Baga Town and Rising National Insecurity Profile

Baga Town and Rising National Insecurity Problems Whether it is Odi town in Niger Delta or Baga town in north of Nigeria or any other of such security challenge, I would like the JTF or any other security operative that would be saddled with the responsibilities of bringing some control to bear to be mindful of this: Circumstances faced by those who are not part of the security problem but are living in the immediate locality actions may be necessary,  The neutral elements are in a situation best described as being between the fire and the deep blue sea! For those in the cold statistics of collateral damage in Baga, if they had made any attempt to isolate the Boko Haram elements living amongst them; they would be cut in pieces by bombs that would have been deployed by Boko Haram and some too would hear for life the death sound of brand new AK 47’s! On the other hand, inn fear of of sure destruction in the hands of the insurgents they kept an uneasy quiet coupled with the fact that, the insurgents use them as human shields in all attacks against JTF and accordingly the JTF cut everyone in shreds including raising down of their houses! It is expected that since this is an internal national crises the JTF and indeed any security operatives that would be saddled with this kind of responsibility should exercise real wisdom and understanding and come up with an ingenious way to reduce collateral damages. I mean some how separating innocent citizens from insurgent elements before a full scale attack is launched. The foolish statement that the army will fire back when they are fired at is an expired irresponsible statement. Such statement may hold water in external actions outside the country. Besides most insurgent groups are horridly formed rabbles that have little or no coordinated military training and as such should not be a match to a trained and disciplined army like the JTF. I suggest that after the security operatives have got a positive intelligence of hide out of an insurgent element the town or village should be locked down by the army so that no one leaves or enter without thorough search. When the time comes for the main action the army should move in armored tanks and army trucks shortly before all attacks are started then the commanders of the army should use Public address system to announce that all who are not part of the insurgents or even repentant insurgents should come out to be moved to a safe position. Of course it is expected that elements of the insurgents would fire at people who may wish to explore this safety window so the armored cars would give them appropriate response but at the end a lot of innocent citizens would be saved but the prize would be that there would be higher causality amongst the army when this type of approach is used but that is why the army is there in the first place! It does not mean that all who chose to come out would not be thoroughly searched and questioned to fish out disguised elements before proper hospitality is given to deserving innocent citizens. I do not have any problems in destroying any building from where the army is fired but some record should be kept of all actions with the view that buildings that were wrongly destroyed by the army action must be repaired once the insurgents are uprooted. The government should not be waiting for Amnesty international to remind them of the urgent liability and provision of houses for innocent citizen should be part of the overall actions. Having said this a more lasting solution to the nation’s insecurity problem is that the devious cabals who are running Nigeria for their personal gains should have a rethink and hands off the nation’s resources they loot on reckless abandon and allow our God given resources to be used to develop the country. I am just saying that the cabals would never willingly let go of looting of the nation’s resources not even on gun treat, the only way that may happen is for some elements to think up a way to deal with this devious group. It beat5s my imagination how the government thinks that insecurity should suddenly stop! Just recently I had a minister of the federation shamelessly saying that out of the 1.7 million candidate who sit for JAMB each year should not be hoping of reasonable admission. In fact she said that only 520,000 of that number can be admitted even by the combination of all federal, state and private universities! The minister obviously devoid of ideas what to do about her ministry or incapacitated about how to move her ministry forward made this shameless statement. By implication it means that 1.2 million youths loam the streets each year and the next year another 1,2 million joins them and that is not all, the minster of labor would also come up with his own shameless talk perhaps that out of about 600,000 graduates each year only 150,000 jobs are available to them it means that each year a new army of youth of about 1,5 million loam the street doing nothing and yet the government claims it does not know how armed robbery, kidnapping, insurgents are ever on the increase! Who is fooling who?
