POSSIBLE PANACIA TO BOMB BLASTS
To start with the bombs started to detonate because President Jonathan is not from the place ‘destined’ BORNE TO RULE! The area President Jonathan comes from is only good enough to be raped economically and environmentally by those who are BORNE TO RULE! But unfortunately for the self styled Borne o Rules, President Jonathan is now on the elevated seat and that is why understandably the Borne to Rules resort to Bomb blasts.
Having said these, to set the record right and straight, no matter who is to be at the elevated seat at this time from the area President Jonathan comes from the bombs would still go off. The other fact that need to be correctly stated is that Nigeria is simply not equipped at this point to handle incessant terrorist bomb blasts so those who are opening their mouth loud and wide that President Jonathan and the security agencies are incapable of preventing planting and blasting of bombs should ask themselves what they would do if they were president Jonathan. Instead of loose talk of deficiency of the president and the security formations should come up with their own solutions but when they can’t come up with any reasonable solutions; the wise thing to do is to shut up! For instance if some one straps 10 kg of Bomb all around his stomach and back and wears surplus suit and strolls into the reception on Nicon Nuga Hotel and loiter around a pillar and detonate a bomb and brings down the building how can Nigeria police or any other police stop him except they were lucky to have a intelligence before hand.
Partial solution to Bombings
There are two approaches to solving this challenge, did I say solving it completely? Nothing like solving it completely it is only to reduce it to less alarming level because no matter how thorough your security arrangement is a determined terrorist would once in a while have a break through.
We have:
A) Short term medium investment solution.
B) Long term heavy investment solution.
SHORT TERM MEDIUM INVESTMENT SOLUTION
i) Police and other agencies intelligence, this is the first line of defense in the war front of terrorism. Police and other security agencies must sharpen their intelligence gathering technique.
ii) Open lump some offer for information nation wide on any possible plot of bombing plus attendant witness protection program. The government must announce a specific sum for any one who supplied correct information that lead to busting of a possible bomb blast. The lump sum may also apply to information that leads to cracking of a kidnapping. Not only the safety of the informant is vital but he should also be equipped financially. A good witness security program is vital in this regard as well as issues of identity changing.
iii) Reactivity and synergy amongst security formations. This is no time for sloppiness, the security agencies must move with swiftness and maximum intelligence and share information with other relevant security agencies with the speed of light and where such swiftness was not observed the officer responsible should be treated accordingly/
iv) More thorough search of vehicles and other transportation means. This is no time to concentrate on the so called ROGER the police is accustomed with. Vehicles must be thoroughly inspected and where some one looks a bit suspicious, back of the seats and under carpets must also be searched. It is easier searching vehicles than to move parts of blown up Nigeria
v) Most stringent custom surveillance. The Nigeria custom must develop a more thorough way of monitoring imported goods and the satellite service must be extended to Nigeria
vi) More stringent immigration control. Immigration must be proactive and should have the ability to access other countries crime data base in order to check people being admitted into the country and countries that export terrorism should face more stringent visa regime.
vii) PERSONAL STRINGENT SURVILIANCE BY MAJOR FACILITIES OWNERS To start with any body with reasonable facility must invest heavily in surveillance equipments including adequate CCTV and other related gadgets. To minimize sudden blast by suicide bombers, a simple rearrangement of the security and admissions post for each facility would be really helpful. The best approach is that security / visitors’ admission post should be separate from the main block. So even if some one is strapped with bombs he can’t easily gain access to the main building without security and if he should decide to detonate he can only destroy the security post and just a few security officers.
viii) CITIZENS ALRETNESS purchase of bombs, handling of bombs and other weapons, survey of area to bomb are no easy arrangements, you hardly can carry it out without other [people some how getting wind of that something about is you is not normal. LONG TERM AND HEAVY INVESTMENT MEASURES
a) Installation of CCTVS and other related gadgets on strategic streets, highways and strategic government facilities . Though comprehensive installation of these gadgets alone cannot stop terrorist bombings and kidnappings but it would increase quite substantially the ability of the security agencies to crack a case or even help in some minor cases to deter a potential kidnapper or bomber when he knows that he is most likely going to be picked by the cameras.. It is vital to shore up the security agencies intelligence gathering capabilities nation wide. The only price is that it would require substantial outlay.
b) SATLLITE COVERAGE OF STRATEGIC FACILITIES AND INSTALLATIONS this would also require a heavy outlay. May even require launch of more sophisticated satellites than are already in operations but it would be priceless for serious from space surveillance and May even help to attack terrorists directly from space if the satellite is equipped with request lesser fire power.
c) Appropriate sophisticated equipping of the polce Force and other agencies A thorough review of gadgets required by the police and other agencies must be carried by the presidency to find out what is really required by the police to carry out this serious work of security and the money released for their purchases.
With all these I hope we as a nation will have started our journey to securing our citizens against this global scourge and in addition the government must treat unemployment with the seriousness it deserves and the national question that require attention must not be swept under the carpet.
